David J. Strachman, partner at McIntyre Tate LLP, was recently published in the Rhode Island Bar Journal. Attorney Strachman’s article, entitled “The Right to Bear Arms in Rhode Island”, discusses the requirements for reviewing concealed weapons applications, which he believes trample over the civil rights of Rhode Islanders. He states that, although municipalities are obligated to grant such licenses to qualified applicants, they often refuse to even accept applications. His article reviews important procedural issues and prior challenges to the actions of municipalities, as well as likely future subjects of litigation in this area.
Attorney Strachman has been practicing for over 25 years and is a leading and successful civil rights advocate in Rhode Island. His practice also focuses on family law, elder and probate law, and litigation. Some of his other publications include Civil Terrorism Law and Terrorism Litigation 2nd Ed., as well as chapters on family law in A Practical Guide to Divorce in Rhode Island, and probate law in A Practical Guide in Probate in Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island Bar Journal has a total audience of over 6,000 and is the official publication of the Rhode Island Bar Association.
