On behalf of the Jenny Rubin and other victims of a notorious 1997 Jerusalem
terrorist attack, and teaming up with the wife of Iran's former prime
minister and her counsel, McIntyre Tate LLP partner David Strachman recently
obtained an attachment of almost $10,000,000 against the Iranian Ministry
of Defense in federal court in San Diego. Having won a $150,000,000 judgment
against Iran in 2003 from the U.S. District Court for the District of
Columbia, the victims sought attachment of funds held by Cubic Defense
Systems owed to Iran under an arbitration award related to the Shah of
Iran's 1977 purchase of a an air combat maneuvering range system.
Chief Judge Barry Moskowitz, in a 42 page decision found that "the
Court finds that the Cubic [arbitration] Judgment is "property"
that can be attached by the Rubin Lien Claimants, as holders of judgments
under § 1605A based upon Iran's sponsorship of terrorist activities."
