Prignano has been presented with the 2019 Community Champion Award hosted by Sojourner House, which is a comprehensive anti-domestic violence agency that offers emergency resources and educational violence-prevention programs.
This award is presented to exceptional individuals who have helped Sojourner House advance its mission, as Attorney Stephen’s work with a fellow attorney and the ACLU led him to be recognized. He helped file suit against the City of Woonsocket on behalf of Sojourner House when grant funds were unconstitutionally withheld from the agency. The City’s actions were argued to cause permanent damage to both the organization and the vulnerable people it aids. Thanks to Attorney Prignano’s diligent and impressive efforts, all of these funds were returned to Sojourner House in their entirety.
